Aiko teams up with Teya from Austria on new single

Czechia’s 2024 Eurovision artist has confirmed a collaboration with a fan-favourite artist from last year’s contest.

In April, Aiko will release a song together with Teya who was one half of the duo that represented Austria at Eurovision 2023.

Revealing the news exclusively to The Euro trip, Aiko said: “It’s an absolute bop if you ask me. It’s a very poppy and cool song.

“Me and Teya have known each other for four years. We met at the Czech songwriting camp about four years ago.

“It was a fun reunion because we both got to Eurovision years later, and then collaborated.”

Aiko first teased she was working with Teya on TikTok at the beginning of February when she posted a video of their pair together in a studio.

That tease came just more than a month after she had posted a video saying she wanted to work with other artists who had competed at the contest.

As well as a collaboration with Teya, Aiko will release the official revamp of her Eurovision song, Pedestal, on Thursday.

This is followed by the release of Aiko’s next single just over a week later on March 29.

Eurovision involvement

When Teya spoke to The Euro Trip in November last year, she said that she wanted to stay involved with Eurovision as a songwriter.

“I definitely want to be around Eurovision forever.

“I want to go as a writer and help artists to get somewhere.

“I don’t think right now I’m going to do it as a solo artist – maybe in four or five years it’ll feel right to go again.”

As well as her appearance on a song with Aiko, Teya can be heard on Switzerland’s 2024 Eurovision entry. Teya is a backing vocalist on The Code by Nemo.

Aiko will compete for Czechia in the first half of the second Eurovision Semi-Final in Malmö in May.
