‘That’s it’: Teya & Salena call time as a musical duo

Teya & Salena have decided to end their time as a musical duo, just months after representing Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The pair formed in late 2022 before they were chosen by Austrian broadcaster ORF to represent their country at Eurovision with the song Who The Hell Is Edgar?

The Austrian singers revealed the decision to split in an exclusive interview with The Euro Trip to promote their Christmas song, Ho Ho Ho.

“When we do solo music it’s so different to each other, so it would make sense to split up for a while and do our own thing,” Teya said.

“We’re always going to support each other, and maybe there will be features along the way.

“Maybe we’ll decide to do another song together, but I think that’s it for now.

“Ho Ho Ho is a very good ending to a very good year. It felt right to put a full stop there.”

Teya & Salena secured 15th place in the Grand Final of Eurovision in Liverpool, struggling to win favour with the voting public despite placing second in the televote-only Semi Final.

The pair’s follow-up single to Who The Hell Is Edgar?, Bye Bye Bye, was released to great acclaim earlier this year.

Last week, Ho Ho Ho was released as the final single in what the duo describe as a “trilogy” of songs.

Despite the two singers deciding to split as a duo, Salena confirmed the door remains open for more music together.

“We have a lot of our own solo things going on. We’re writing songs for our solo projects right now.

“For now this will be the last song.

“Maybe in 10 years we’ll see each other and we’ll be like, ‘Let’s do a song’.”
