Speaking on the latest episode of The Euro Trip podcast, 2021 Dutch representative Jeangu Macrooy has revealed he received a touching message on his return from the contest.
The Netherlands finished in 23rd position in the Grand Final, with Jeangu singing his entry “Birth of a New Age” in Rotterdam.
Speaking to presenter Rob Lilley, he explained what had happened when he left his hotel, returning to his home in Amsterdam.
“I’ve gotten so many personal messages. When I got home there was a letter on my front door from my neighbour, he is married to a Syrian refugee and they have little kids.
“It was a very personal message about how he connected with the song…how it inspired him. It told him it’s ok to be different.
“It really was amazing… that’s the thing I appreciate most.”
Jeangu was also asked whether he would like to return to Eurovision in the future.
“Who knows, it was an amazing experience.
“Never say never… I don’t know, maybe writing for someone else… but I’m focusing on my own stuff right now.”
Jeangu is currently working on new music, with his latest single to be released in November. He also has a new album being released in the new year, something he said he was able to work on this summer after being inspired after his Eurovision experience.
