But Wolfslast has explained that there are barriers to the country achieving the same success as others in the competition.
Speaking exclusively to The Euro Trip, Wolfslast said: “We do care. But a lot of people sometimes don’t see that we care.
“You have a lot of obstacles in the way. Money is always a subject, but this is [the same] with all of the public broadcasters all over Europe right now.
“We are trying to do as much as we can. I do hope that people see that we do care and that we’re pulling all the strings to get good contestants in the preselection and to Malmö.”
Germany will choose its 2024 Eurovision representative on Friday in a televised selection competition.
Eurovision Song Contest – Das deutsche Finale 2024 will see nine artists battling it out for the ticket to Malmö.
One of the artists in the show, Floryan, was chosen to compete through another televised show called Ich will zum ESC! which featured five episodes hosted by 2014 Eurovision winner Conchita and Irish singer-songwriter Rea Garvey.
“We had a casting show which was to have an earlier appearance of Eurovision,” Wolfslast said.
“The normal German only knows about Eurovision in May, so that was one of the reasons to have this format [starting] earlier.”
Despite admitting she would have wanted a couple more music genres in the final, Wolfslast is happy with the overall quality.
“We do have a couple of really, really good songs in our German final on Friday.
“It just depends if my taste is the taste of the juries and the public. I think we have really good quality in there.”
Eurovision Song Contest – Das deutsche Finale 2024 will be broadcast live on ARD Das Estre on Friday night.
