Eurovision-winning songwriter Linnea Deb has said she would write a Eurovision song for the UK if asked.
Deb won Eurovision as a songwriter on Måns Zelmerlöw’s track Heroes in 2015, and has written songs for Finland, Denmark and San Marino in more recent years.
Speaking exclusively to The Euro Trip as a guest on The Contest & Me series of episodes, Deb said she would be happy to add to the list of countries she has worked for.
Asked if she would write a song for the UK, Deb said: “Absolutely. Hit me up!”
A Swedish involvement in the UK’s Eurovision participation would be no strange thing.
In 2019, Swedes John Lunkvik, Anna-Klara Folin and Jonas Thander wrote the UK’s Eurovision song, Bigger Than Us.
Performed by Brit Michael Rice, Swedes Anna Sahlene, Melanie Wehbe and Linda Pritchard joined the singer on stage in Tel Aviv to provide backing vocals.
“If you want to win [or] if you want to have a good outcome then you should go abroad,” Deb added.
“Just look for the best song. That’s what it’s about.”
In 2018, Finnish broadcaster held a national selection with just one artist, Saara Aalto. The show had just three songs and all three had overseas involvement, with Deb co-writing the winning song, Monsters.
Deb was also part of the trio of writers responsible for Denmark’s 2020 Eurovision song that never was, Yes.
In 2021, Deb was among the 10-strong team that wrote Senhit and Flo Rida’s contribution for San Marino, Adrenalina.
