Eurovision to embark on 10-date arena tour

The Eurovision Song Contest will travel on tour across Europe for the very first time this summer to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

Ten artists from this year’s Grand Final in Vienna will be invited to perform in arenas in cities including London, Amsterdam and Copenhagen in June and July.

Organisers of Eurovision say the tour show will not aim to replicate Vienna’s Grand Final, instead it will be an extension of the live show.

“As we celebrate 70 years, we wanted to do something truly unique and special,” Martin Green CBE, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, said.

“This historic first tour captures the evolution of the contest – from broadcast icon to an immersive live experience – with a format that celebrates our fantastic past whilst looking to the future.

“For the very first time we are bringing the magic of the Eurovision Song Contest live experience directly to fans and their friends and families all over Europe.

“This is our chance to celebrate the music, the artists, and the community that have made the Eurovision Song Contest what it is for seven remarkable decades.”

In addition to 10 Grand Finalists, five heritage acts will perform each night on the tour, with the addition of one local Eurovision artist per city.

Every artist will perform their own Eurovision song, as well as a cover of a contest classic.

Tickets for all 10 shows will go on sale in February, with Eurofan members getting an exclusive 48-hour pre-sale window.

Organisation of the event

All artists participating in Eurovision this year will sign a normal contract of participation with their country’s broadcaster, with the added binding appendix that they could be invited to perform in the post-competition tour.

If an artist is not selected for the tour, they will be released from the contract early.

The Eurovision Song Contest Live Tour will be put together by a team with strong pedigree. Lee Smithurst, Head of Show in 2023, will be the Creative Executive Producer.

Dan Shipton, Lead Creative Director in 2023, will take up the same role for the tour, as will Lighting Designer Tim Routledge.
