- SuRie is open to returning to the Eurovision Song Contest, but emphasises that a comeback isn’t imminent as she focuses on other creative pursuits
- She has a notable history with Eurovision, having represented the UK in 2018 and served as a backing artist for Belgium in 2015 and 2017
- While acknowledging her various roles, SuRie clarified that she was not the Musical Director for Blanche in 2017, describing her involvement more as a supportive mentor
She also worked with the Belgian delegation twice as a backing artist, in 2015 and again in 2017.
Asked by The Euro Trip if she would return to the competition, SuRie said: “Of course I would.
“It’s the most beautiful, brilliant show, produced and run by the most amazingly talented people. Why would you not want to work with those people in any capacity?”
SuRie’s first direct Eurovision involvement came in 2015 when she was a member of Loïc Nottet’s team as a backing performer.

She returned with Belgian broadcaster RTBF two years later, once again providing backing vocals, this time for Blanche.
Despite being credited in the role by some sources, SuRie dispelled the myth that she was also Blanche’s Musical Director.
“I was not Musical Director. That would be so unfair and a discredit to Pierre [Dumoulin] who was the songwriter and Musical Director.
“I had more of a role backstage working one-on-one with Blanche. And I don’t know what job title we want to give that; psychoanalyst, guru, mentor, friend, supporter, I don’t know. But it was more responsibility than I had with Loïc.”
SuRie’s third and most recent appearance at Eurovision was in 2018 when she represented her country at the contest in Lisbon, having earlier won Eurovision: You Decide to bag her place there.
“I feel like I’ve had quite a privilege of a hat trick of experiences. Some people dream of getting to Eurovision just once. I never expected for it to appear three times in my life.
“My focus and creative passions are going into other styles and genres, and stage work and writing, but I would never say never.”
SuRie almost had the opportunity to start writing her Eurovision story more than a decade before her first appearance in 2015.
“I found a cassette tape with my entry to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest from years and years ago.
“I entered and I did not get through obviously, but I wrote a song called One Day Love Will Find A Way.
“I can’t remember how it came about because I didn’t grow up in a family where we all watched it.”
SuRie’s album Little Frames is available to stream now.
