Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh keen on another Eurovision return

Speaking on the latest episode The Euro Trip, Eurovision 1993 winner and 2010 Irish representative Niamh Kavanagh has revealed that she’s still interested in another return to the contest in the future.

Having won on home soil with the ballad ‘In Your Eyes’, she represented Ireland once more in Oslo, Norway, seventeen years later, qualifying for the Grand Final before eventually finishing 23rd with “It’s For You”.

When asked by presenter Rob Lilley whether she’d consider a third appearance, she didn’t rule it out, although would like a different role if she were to return.

“I would seriously consider going back as a writer or a delegate… I would like to go back in a way that I can spend time with the fans.

“I don’t want to just go to Eurovision. I want to do something special.”

In the same interview Niamh was also asked about Ireland’s recent poor results at the contest.

“I do know the selection process and the people involved are always trying new ways. They tried very hard with Lesley [Roy] this year with the staging.

“They are more innovative when you think…

“When you’re chasing what might work, you’re forgetting about who you are.”
