Speaking on the latest episode of The Euro Trip podcast, Aftonbladet journalist Tobbe Ek has confirmed that Lotta Furebäck will replace Christer Björkman as Sweden’s Head of Delegation.
Chister Björkman is standing down from his role as supervisor of Melodifestivalen after holding the position since 2002. He is also stepping away from his role as Sweden’s Head of Delegation at Eurovision.
Tobbe Ek explained that Christer Björkman’s roles will not simply be replaced by one person, instead by a team of people:
“There are lots of these assistant positions within the Melfest production right now that have been added to the production to replace what Christer has done on his own over the last 20 years.”
Karin Gunnarsson has been the Competition Producer for Melodifestivalen 2021 and is one of the name’s who will replace Björkman.

However Tobbe continued, explaining that she will not be Sweden’s Head of Delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest:
“Karin will not be Sweden’s Head of Delegation at Eurovision, that will instead be Lotta Furebäck who has been one of the main choreographers and Head of Staging during Melfest over the last five or six years.”
Explaining why Lotta Furebäck will take on the role, Tobbe said:
“As I understand it, Karin isn’t as good at staging and stage sets, so SVT needs to send somebody who can understand how to make a Eurovision performance stand out.”
